Just got word from Richard Goudarsi, our GSATV chairman, that the house Resources, Recreation, and Development Committee met Tuesday and voted "10 for and 4 against" to move HB-1273 forward.
So yes, we got defeated here on this round. But we did put up a valiant fight. And the fact that we were able to get four of the committee members to vote against the bill was a victory in itself; that resulted directly from all your mail.
The reason we can claim some success here, even though we lost the vote, is that the bill now has to work it's way through a couple of other committees, and then finally go to the house floor. And all those that vote on it from here on in see that it did not make it out of it's own sponsoring committee without dissent. So they should hopefully sit up, take notice, and not rubberstamp the thing as it progresses on down the line.
I hope to have something official in print from Richard shortly commenting on what happened and what we should do next. So keep on eye on this site.
